Doha
A Doha criminal court has sentenced a Sri Lankan expatriate to five years in jail for burglary, local Arabic daily Arrayah has reported.
The police had caught the man while he was attempting another burglary, the daily said.
During interrogation, the expatriate admitted that he had broken into a house earlier and stolen an iPad, six watches and a number of sunglasses, collectively valued at QR20,000. He also said he had sent the items to his home country.
The court established his guilt based on the investigation and his confession.
Besides the jail term, the court also ordered his deportation.
