Students from Qatar University’s (QU) College of Business and Economics (CBE) and College of Engineering (CENG) are preparing to participate in the university’s third Innovation and Entrepreneurship Contest.
The contest is designed to trigger the entrepreneurial skills of students, spread awareness about the importance of entrepreneurial activities and engage them on how to develop sound business plans.
This year, the competition features five tracks - health sciences, ICT and technology-based projects, energy and environment, social enterprises and business services.
Participating teams will attend a training session where they will be oriented on how to prepare and present effective business plans and pitches outlining the essence of their business ideas. Presentations will be delivered in front of a panel of judges on November 23, with the winners being announced on November 30.
“Knowing how to attract and maintain public interest in one’s business is a critical skill, which engineering students have to learn and adapt in their future professional endeavours. This competition is exposing them to these and other challenges they must address on their way to becoming successful business owners, entrepreneurs and inspirational role models in the wider community,” said CENG dean Dr Rashid Alammari.
“Through this annual competition, we are inviting these students to unleash their talents and sense of entrepreneurship in the spirit of competition, teamwork and shared knowledge. We look forward to seeing the innovative projects that will emerge,” noted CBE dean Dr Nitham Hindi.
