Amwaj Nasser Steelers and Dukhan Ballers dumped their opponents in lopsided matches to improve their standings in the Elite Division of the 18th Men’s Championship Cup organised by Pinoy Basketball of Qatar (PIBAQ) over the weekend at Al Gharafa Multi Purpose Training Gym.
Amwaj easily crushed Sine Wave One Family, 90-61, after the latter started to lose steam in the crucial five minutes remaining in the last quarter.
Amwaj employed fast breaks to take advantage of a series of turnovers committed by One Family early in the game, which was a big factor in their convincing win.
Lead by Mac Gomez, Amwaj started to pull away with a 19-point edge at the end of the third quarter.
One Family couldn’t seem to get their game going in the final quarter. Even their reliable star Richard Raagas could not find a good range with his perimeter shots and drives.
Dukhan Ballers also zoomed their way to a dominating win over Junalvin Supreme Tech, 105-92. The win lifted them to second place, just a game behind league leaders HLG Leighton.
