Al-Hammadi: Stable supplies.

QPMC inks material supply deals with 24 local contractors

Qatar Primary Materials Company chief executive officer Eisa al-Hammadi has said QPMC executed supply agreements with some 24 local contractors to source to them 1.1052mn tonnes of materials, which will help meet the demands of the local construction industry.
In an interaction with a section of the local media here, he said QPMC recently signed five agreements with private sector establishments, all Qatari-owned companies, for the procurement of primary construction materials for the Qatari market, mainly gabbro and limestone.
As per the agreements, Doha Quarry had committed to provide 3mn tonnes of gabbro for one year while MFH would procure 7.5mn tonnes of limestone for five years.
On the other hand, Oryx Trading has agreed to supply 2mn tonnes of gabbro for a year while Village Trading will be supplying 6mn tonnes of gabbro over five years to QPMC; all Qatari owned companies.
Al-Hammadi pointed out that these agreements were capable of increasing the local stockpile of primary materials (under the supervision of QPMC) to 58mn tonnes.
Besides meeting the local demand for construction materials, it will also facilitate stable supplies and competitive prices.
The interaction was arranged as part of the 10th anniversary celebrations of QPMC.
