Photography contest focusing on education

The Supreme Education Council (SEC), in collaboration with Al Salam International, announced the launch of the Best Vintage Photography contest in education yesterday. The contest will be held to judge the top 10 iconic photographs that capture the various facets of education in the country.
The scope of photography that qualifies for the contest include photographs of students who have now become eminent public figures in the country, photographs of significant educational conferences and seminars hosted in Qatar, as well as photographs of international, regional or local educational competitions that witnessed Qatar’s participation. The contest is open to all residents and all entries must be submitted by November 12.
Jaber al-Shawy, SEC’s media and communication assistant manager, said: “Qatar has rapidly transformed its educational landscape to complement the diversifying economic goals. Today, Qatar stands as the beacon of knowledge as we work together to create a world-class educational system. The Supreme Educational Council is honoured to celebrate the nation’s spectacular journey towards enlightenment. The Best Vintage Photography contest will serve as a unique platform for every resident in the country to be part of this amazing journey.”
AbdulSalam Issa Abu Issa, deputy COO of Salam International, said: “Photography has always been deeply rooted in the history of Salam International. We are excited to celebrate this passion once again through the Best Vintage Photography contest, which will capture the country’s humble aspirations, over the decades, of becoming a world leader in education.”
The results of the contest will be announced on the SEC website and across its social media channels. Winners will be felicitated at a special award ceremony that will be held at the SEC premises in Darb Al Saai during the Qatar National Day. Top 10 contestants will receive a state-of-the-art digital camera.
