The Cabinet has reviewed and taken the appropriate decision on a draft law on equality between Qataris and other GCC citizens regarding the practice of different professions and activities, and delivery of economic and social services.
During the meeting on Wednesday, the Cabinet also reviewed a draft law amending some provisions of Law No 7 of 1987 on regulations for the practice of commercial activities by GCC citizens in this country, the official Qatar News Agency reported.
A draft law on permitting companies from GCC nations to open branches in Qatar was also reviewed at the meeting. Appropriate decisions were taken on these draft laws.
After the regular weekly Cabinet meeting chaired by HE the Prime Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani at the Emiri Diwan, HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ahmed bin Abdullah al-Mahmoud said five draft decisions by HE the Minister of Economy and Commerce were approved.
These pertain to specifying a model for contracts of commercial agencies, identifying requirements for outlets selling gemstones and precious metals and issuing a memo format for obtaining evidence in crimes committed in violation of the Commercial Companies Law. The other two decisions are related to selling through advertisements and amending some provisions of Ministerial Decision No 5 of 1984 on selling through promotions.
The Cabinet also gave its nod to a draft decision by HE the Minister of Information and Communications Technology on amending some provisions of Decision No 15 of 2015 on establishing frequency spectrum fees.
Further, the Cabinet approved a draft protocol for co-operation between Qatar’s Supreme Education Council and Morocco's Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Professional Training to bring Moroccan teachers to this country.
A host of other issues were reviewed and appropriate decisions taken on them. These included a letter by HE the Minister of Development Planning and Statistics to review a report on the development challenges faced in Qatar, proposing procedures to enhance implementation and build momentum.
The Cabinet also reviewed a Qatar Media Corporation proposal to authorise the corporation to establish an information production and marketing company, as well as a letter by the chairman of the Tax Complaints Committee at the Ministry of Finance on its report on the activities of the committee in the first six months of 2015.
