Ashghal official receives award

Public Works Authority’s (Ashghal) Human Resources Manager Saif al-Kaabi, has won the Asian HR Leadership Award from a non-profit human resources group, CHRO Asia.
The award was presented to him in recognition of his outstanding achievements and continuous efforts in developing human resources and enhancing capabilities through implementing a range of plans and initiatives that have contributed to enabling the authority’s nearly 2000 employees, according to a  statement from Ashghal.
The recognition comes as a result of al-Kaabi’s continuing efforts to attract and retain Qatari talent and implement individual development plans, in addition to implementing a succession planning process to create leadership cadres in the authority.
Al-Kaabi also led international recruitment campaigns and initiatives to attract qualified and experienced candidates from around the world, with the aim to create a diverse work environment to support Ashghal’s rapid development, it pointed out.
The award was presented to al-Kaabi at a ceremony at Taj Dubai, UAE. The event was hosted by Employer Branding Institute, Stars of the Industry Group, and the non-profit human resources group CHRO Asia.
Upon receiving the award, al-Kaabi said “I am honoured to receive this award as well to represent my employers, Ashghal, which is the infrastructural works authority of Qatar. The credit for this achievement goes to authority’s senior management in the first place. A management that supports and encourages the implementation of plans, programmes, and initiatives aimed at developing the human resources and investing in the human capital, in line with the authority’s strategy emanating from the Qatar National Vision’s Human Development Pillar. The credit also goes to the experienced team of the authority’s Human Resources Department.”
Al-Kaabi is also a winner of the “HR Professional of the Year 2014” award in the Public Sector category, from the sixth Annual MENA HR Excellence Awards 2014 held in Dubai.
