Manateq looks to boost healthcare sector with QMED participation

Al-Kaabi: Supporting private sector.

Economic zones company, Manateq, has announced its participation in the “Qatar International Medical Devices & Healthcare Exhibition and Conferences” (QMED) as official partner during the event slated on December 2 to 4 at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre.
Manateq CEO Fahad Rashid al-Kaabi said the company’s participation aims to boost the healthcare sector, which is considered as “an important factor in supporting the economy of the state.”
“Manateq is concentrating on the economic and industrial development of the medical projects and seeks to be a part of the support and promotion system of the local health industries,” he said.
Al-Kaabi noted that Manateq “is fully-committed” to supporting the private sector in Qatar, as well as enhancing its competitive abilities in the healthcare field.
“The company’s interest to support such medical events emerges from its belief in the important role it is playing to serve the local investors and to attract the potential investors outside the state, who aspire to have access to the Qatari market and invest in the healthcare sector of the state, while the government tends to expand the number of hospitals and diverse medical centres, in addition to the establishment of various medical projects,” al-Kaabi said.
According to al-Kaabi, Manateq is developing major projects – Um Alhoul, which is located near the Hamad Port and Ras Bufontas, near the Hamad International Airport. The projects attract different sectors from industries in the healthcare sector and provide “growing opportunities,” he said.
He noted that private sector, local, and international investors can play an important role in developing the healthcare sector through “numerous advantages” provided by Manateq projects.
“The most important is providing a world-class infrastructure in order to facilitate and support many economic sectors, especially the healthcare sector. Moreover, the companies shall benefit from the one-stop-shop to facilitate all the administrative procedures,” he explained. “By establishing Manateq and its diverse advantages and services, I expect that the investments in the healthcare sector will be increased in Qatar during the next years, and exceed governmental expenditure. I also expect a rise in local and foreign investments in the healthcare sector through the zones provided by Manateq.”
Khalifa Haroun, manager of the exhibition, noted that the significance of public and private sector participation at QMED highlights the priority HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani gives to healthcare sector.
He said: “More than 100 national and international corporates and companies are participating in QMED. They rank among the most leading international and regional companies in the field of developing and providing medical devices, and supplies for hospitals and medical laboratories.”
Haroun noted that QMED represents a great opportunity for regional healthcare sector officials and specialists from all over the world to meet together and create “a competitive atmosphere.”
