Nepal Engineers’ Association (NEA) in Qatar celebrated 53rd Engineers’ Day at Asiana Hotel last week. The event was chaired by NEA President Shrawan Kumar Jha, and charge d’affaires at Nepal Embassy Mani Ratna Sharma was the chief guest. Arjun Bhattarai, former NEA president, president of The Institution of Engineers-India, president of The Institution of Engineers-Bangladesh, president of PANNIT and other 100 Qatar-based Nepalese engineers were present for the celebrations.
NEA-Qatar was established in 2004 and is celebrating the day since 2005. Currently, there are more than 500 Nepalese engineers in Qatar.
The programme kicked off with lighting of the traditional lamp by Sharma, and the recital of the Nepalese national anthem. On the occasion, NEA released its sixth edition of souvenir of the year 2015.
Addressing the audience, Sharma thanked NEA for making him part of the celebration. He lauded the work and activities carried out by NEA and extolled Nepalese engineers for their contribution to Qatar and Nepal. He hailed the Qatari government for providing opportunities to Nepalese engineers.
He added that Nepalese engineers working in Qatar can gain the experiences of working in a foreign land which would be later utilised back home. He also congratulated NEA for contributing to the welfare of nonresident Nepalese community, including the publishing of 2015 souvenir.
“I believe that the souvenir contains information regarding technology and development together with sharing of skill, expertise and experiences in various fields which will be useful for peace, prosperity and development,” said Sharma.
He wished NEA in Qatar a success for its every endeavour, bringing forth innovative ideas and contributing towards the well-being of Nepalese people.
President of NEA Shrawan Kumar Jha in his speech said that NEA’s motive is to share knowledge and experience to the engineers.
He thanked the executive committee, adviser committee, Embassy of Nepal and all the engineers for their co-operation. The programme was hosted by Rupesh Singh.
