National library to organise children’s event

Qatar National Library (QNL), in collaboration with Qatar Museums, is organising ‘Qatar-Turkey 2015’ Children’s Event on October 22 at the Education City Club house aimed at raising awareness of Turkey’s culture among children and families in the country.
“QNL welcomes families and children to the ‘Qatar-Turkey 2015’ Children’s Event. It also aims to create an ambiance conducive to learning, self-development and creativity,” Engineer Saadi al-Said, director of Administration and Planning at QNL.
“This and other events form part of the core of the library’s approach to encourage the youth of Qatar to take on vital roles in the nation’s development,” he added.
The event, taking place from 4pm-6pm, forms part of the ‘Qatar-Turkey 2015 Year of Culture,” a year-long cultural exchange programme that aims to promote collaboration between the people of Qatar and Turkey and presents Turkey’s rich cultural heritage to the Qatari society.
Al-Said said QNL supports Qatar Foundation’s (QF) mission to foster a progressive society while preserving the nation and the region’s heritage through spreading of knowledge and cultivation of creativity for future generations.
The event will feature stimulating, creative, fun and cultural activities including Turkish flag and carpet bookmark craft, and shadow puppet storytelling.
QNL, a member of QF for Education, Science and Community Development, is fully committed to developing the potential of Qatar’s youth by providing them with free valuable learning resources and opportunities including a vast selection of online databases, regular trainings and social events throughout the year, according to al-Said.
