The weekly Cabinet meeting, presided over by HE the Prime Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani yesterday approved a draft decision of the Council of Ministers amending some provisions of Decree No 21 of 1995 on the establishment of the standing committee on farms and wells and the organisation of farmers’ affairs.
The amendment abolished the committee’s jurisdiction to consider applications for the drilling, maintenance or deepening of groundwater wells, as it has been assigned to Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation.
The committee will retain its jurisdiction to consider the applications for the registration of new farms, the division or transfer holdings of farms and farmland, and increasing agricultural spaces. A representative of the Corporation has been added to the membership of the committee.
The Cabinet also approved a draft decision by HE the Minister of Economy and Commerce amending some provisions of Resolution No 47 of 2005 determining fees for services performed by the Ministry of Economy and Commerce.
In addition, the Cabinet approved the sixth executive programme for the cultural and educational co-operation agreement between the governments of Qatar and Oman for the academic year 2015/2016, 2016/2017, 2017/2018.
The Cabinet took the necessary measures to ratify the Unified Agreement for the Investment of Arab Capitals in the Arab States (amended).
It also approved Doha bid to host the World Telecommunication/ICT Indicators Symposium (WTIS) of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) from November 22 to 24, 2016.
The Cabinet reviewed the following topics and took the appropriate decisions:
A. A memorandum by HE the Minister of Administrative Development on the results of co-ordination and consultation with HE the Minister of Development Planning and Statistics on the agreement on some of the proposals of the Ministry of Administrative Development about the balance between the role of women in family and society and their role in the labour market.
B. A letter by HE the Minister of Economy and Commerce on the results of the meeting No 51 of the GCC Trade Cooperation Committee (Doha-May 2015).
