A series of workshops and seminars have been held as part of the bird-hunting competition organised by Katara – the Cultural Village Foundation.
The main activities of the Al Habal competition, which features 48 participants, will be held on Friday and Saturday.
The workshops and seminars, which preceded the main activities, were held at Building 15 over two days to explain the details of the contest and how to take part in it.
Lectures delivered under the supervision of Mohamed Ali al-Matawah discussed key topics such as the types of birds and steps involved in making traps.
The lectures also shed light on the connection between bird hunting and the heritage of Qatar and the GCC region.
The 48 contestants will be taken to the designated location affiliated to Hassad Qatar, according to a statement from the organisers.
The contestants, aged 10 to 15 years, have been divided into 12 teams. Each team comprises a bird hunter, an assistant bird hunter and two chanters.
