British activist and journalist Lauren Booth (pictured) has visited Qatar Charity (QC) in Doha, on an invitation from the organisation, in order to work together to support Palestinian families suffering due to poverty and the siege.
During the one-week visit, Booth sought to co-operate with QC to implement economic and social projects for the victims of poverty, unemployment, Israeli attacks and the siege, a statement noted.
Booth is a renowned pro-Arab activist who helped break the siege imposed by the occupation on the Gaza Strip. She is dedicating her life and efforts to guarantee a better life for the Palestinians, the statement adds.
During her visit, Booth met a number of QC officials and discussed the sufferings of the Palestinians, especially those living in the Gaza Strip, and the need for aid and relief campaigns.
A number of QC projects were highlighted during the meetings to show the role played by these development and relief initiatives in stabilising the Palestinian families’ circumstances. Income-generating projects implemented by QC in Palestine, such as providing cows, sheep, poultry, means of transportation and others, were highlighted on the occasion.
Booth’s visit also included her participation in an event with the Qatari Businesswomen Association in co-operation with the Youth for Jerusalem Association, women’s department; attending a lecture at a Holy Qur’an memorisation centre; and visiting some senior figures.
Booth expressed her happiness at visiting QC, saying: “I chose QC because I know about its excellent work in the field of charity in general and for the Palestinians in particular. QC’s projects in Gaza are very important in providing a living for the people there.  
“QC’s projects in Palestine are distinguished and I hope they increase in number. I know how generous the Qatari people are, especially when it’s about their brothers and sisters from other countries. These projects definitely help the Palestinians and fight poverty and unemployment.”
QC has implemented a large number of income-generating projects in Palestine, helping thousands of families lead a better life. The beneficiaries include widows, orphans, breadwinners, poor people, the unemployed and other needy categories.
QC has also inaugurated the “We Build Palestine” campaign to contribute to the development of the Palestinian people within and outside Palestine as part of the “Hand in Hand We Build Palestine” initiative.
