Commercial Bank has participated in the annual SIBOS conference held in Singapore, the bank said in a statement.
Organised by SWIFT, the global provider of secure financial messaging services, the annual SIBOS conference has grown to become a global business forum for the financial community in the areas of trade finance, payments, securities, and cash management.
Held annually in different locations around the world, the SIBOS conference brings together more than 7,000 business leaders and topic experts from a range of financial institutions, market infrastructures, multinational corporations, and technology firms.
Commercial Bank and its Turkish subsidiary, Alternatifbank, attended the conference to build and maintain relationships in the global transaction banking industry and to participate in discussions concerning market trends and innovations in trade finance, transaction banking and related control systems.
Commercial Bank CEO Abdulla Saleh al-Raisi said: “Transaction banking is a key business area for Commercial Bank, and fundamental to the development of a healthy and vibrant private sector economy for Qatar. The financial industry faces new challenges from technology advances, heightened customer expectations, new regulatory and compliance standards, and the constant push to reduce industry costs and unlock new value.
“With SIBOS being a high-profile and informative global transaction banking event, it is vital for Commercial Bank to participate in order to maintain our record of providing innovative transaction banking services for our customers.”
Commercial Bank also supports and participates in the activities of annual conferences of other global trade and development institutions such as the ICC Banking Commission, BAFT, Institute of International Finance, International Finance Corporation, Asian Development Bank, African Development Bank and Arab Trade Finance Programme.
