Expo Milano provides a window of opportunity for countries to exchange expertise in several fields, says LREDC chief executive officer Issa Mohamed Ali Kaldari.
Lusail Real Estate Development Company (LREDC) has showcased its latest environment-friendly and sustainable architectural designs to hundreds of visitors who toured the Qatar pavilion at the Expo Milano 2015.
LREDC officials briefed visitors on the Global Sustainability Assessment System, a green building certification system developed for Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) countries and currently applied in the development of Lusail City.
LREDC chief executive officer Issa Mohamed Ali Kaldari said the firm updated visitors with the progress that Qatar’s construction industry has accomplished in the fields of architectural design and sustainability standards.
“There is no doubt that Expo Milano provides a window of opportunity for countries to exchange expertise in several fields. Lusail Real Estate Development Company seeks to share our expertise in the development of large-scale, green and sustainable projects such as Lusail City,” he said.
Kaldari added that Lusail City embodies Qatar’s vision of a modern sustainable city that combines tradition and technological advancement. LREDC representatives delivered a presentation entitled “Lusail, the city of the future” before more than 500 visitors and discussed the unique features of Lusail City. The presentation explained to visitors the smart features and high-level infrastructure currently under development at Lusail City, including power grids, water supply networks, fiber optic cables, security surveillance systems, and parking management systems.
Spread over a 38sq km area, Lusail City is considered one of the largest urban development projects in the world.
The city will host more than 200,000 residents, create close to 170,000 jobs, and is expected to attract more than 80,000 visitors. It will be home to schools, hospitals, entertainment and leisure facilities, health and medical centres, and malls.
Expo Milano 2015 is an international fair that takes place over a six-month period and provides a platform for the exchange of ideas between experts, businessmen, and investors on food security under the theme “Feeding the planet. Energy for life.”
The expo, which aims to provide a platform for dialogue about food production, health, energy, and sustainability issues, hosts 84 pavilions representing 54 countries, along with a number of corporations and civil society organisations.
