QAC and QU win their first matches

Qatar Aeronautical College (QAC) defeated Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in Qatar (GU-Q) 3-2 in the opening football match of the 2015-2016 University League on Thursday.
The match saw goals by QAC’s Mohamed Abdulla al-Hashimi, Mohamed Ali al-Diyani, and Nasser S al-Khaabi. For GU-Q, Abdulaziz al-Buainain and Owais Khan scored one goal each.
The second match of the day was played between the champions of the last two editions — Qatar University (QU) and Northwestern University in Qatar (NU-Q).
Abbas Mohamed scored a brace as QU blanked NU-Q 4-0. Eslam Ashraf Mohamed and Ahmed Suliman scored the other two goals of the match.
The action-packed opening match was attended by Ibrahim al-Sulaiti, vice president of the School and University League Committee at Qatar Football Association (QFA), Faisal al-Dosari, Recreation Services senior supervisor at Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF), and Fahad al-Darwish, Recreation Services supervisor at QF.
The action returns on Thursday, October 29, with University of Calgary in Qatar (UCQ) and Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar (WCMC-Q) playing the first match at 6pm, and Carnegie Mellon in Qatar (CMU-Q) and the College of the North Atlantic Qatar (CNA-Q) facing off at 7pm.
The University League is set to conclude on February 2, 2016, at Qatar Foundation’s Recreation Center’s Pitch 1, and matches will be played every Thursday with one break between the end of November and mid-January.
