Ooredoo has announced it will be deploying Cisco Mobility IQ to create new services and value as well as superior user experiences for its customers.
First unveiled at Mobile World Congress 2015, Cisco’s Mobility IQ enables operators to simplify how data gathering, analytics and intelligence work.
Utilising Cisco Mobility IQ, Ooredoo will be aware of what’s happening on its network and business premises at all times. With these insights, Ooredoo will be able to optimise network performance as well as use real-time insights from user activity to provide an “excellent, consistent service”, according to a statement.
“Ooredoo will work with Cisco to develop new insights and innovations using Mobility IQ, generating better understanding of the incredible performance of the Ooredoo Supernet and enhancing the value delivered to consumer and business customers,” the statement noted.
“Ooredoo holds a leadership position in Internet of Things and machine-to-machine solutions in Qatar and across its footprint, and Cisco’s solution will provide important network insights in support of its efforts in this area.”
Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad bin Nasser al-Thani, chief new business officer at Ooredoo, said: “The Supernet delivers Wi-Fi, mobile broadband, including 4G and 4G+, and fibre services to enrich the lives of our customers, and, by deploying the Cisco Mobility IQ solution, we will be able to maximise the business intelligence generated through its everyday operation.”
Mohamed Hammoudi, general manager of Cisco Qatar, noted: “Ooredoo and its customers now have a powerful new solution that will help them manage, analyse and utilise their data more effectively, optimise service delivery, as well as enhance the customer offering in Qatar and beyond.”
With Qatar hosting several major upcoming sports events, including the 2022 FIFA World Cup, the benefits of Mobility IQ for Ooredoo for retail, hospitality and entertainment/sports venues will be significant, according to the statement.
For example, Ooredoo will be able to measure visitor footfall, dwell times, shopping patterns and repeat visits at venues and outlets and gather insightful information such as how guests are using the network in select venue locations and how crowds are being managed during events.
In the hospitality sector, business customers will be able to deploy Mobility IQ to assess when food and beverage traffic is declining to trigger promotions, monitor dwell time to manage staffing needs and receive alerts when VIP guests enter the premises, among other activities.
For the retail market, Ooredoo’s business customers will also be able to measure footfall and average dwell times during holidays or special events, as well as analyse traffic patterns for more efficient signage placement.
