Doha to host expo on transport and logistics in May

Abdulatif al-Misnad, left, speaks as al-Khalifa looks on at a conference.

The logistics, freight and transport (shipping and railways) sectors are expected to get a boost when Doha plays host to the third Qatar International Exhibition for Transport and Logistics (Trans4) at the newly-built Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre from May 24 to 26, next year.
“The three-event aims to promote Qatar as a destination where the four sectors are bound to grow remarkably in the next one decade,” entrepreneur Ali bin Abdulatif al-Misnad said yesterday.
Al-Misnad, who is also the chairman of Al Baida Group, which is organising the event, said the exhibition will highlight latest technology advances, systems and solutions, products and services in the sectors.
The businessman, who also heads the local forum of stakeholders in the logistics industry, said the event will bring together government decision makers and business leaders in the transport and logistics sectors in Qatar and the neighbouring countries.
Al-Misnad said the exhibition will provide an important platform for exchanging experiences, discussing latest technologies and applications in the sectors and identifying the specialised international companies in the relevant sectors.
Hamad al-Khalifa, director of land transport licensing at the Ministry of Transport, was also present at the briefing.
The exhibitors include those in the maritime industry, logistics and shipping services, air freight, rail transport, fast shipping services, land transport companies, consulting firms, planning, insurance companies, banks and financial
institutions.
Representatives of more than 300 firms from 20 countries are expected for the event.
The organisers said 20% of the visitors in the previous edition of the expo came from outside the Gulf region and 25% from the GCC states other than Qatar. The remaining 55% were from within the country itself.
They said more than 32% of the visitors were at the level of CEOs or executive managers and 12% were either board members or managing directors of the companies having operations in the logistics sector.
