GCC officials in charge of environment begin their 36th meeting in Doha

GCC undersecretaries responsible for environmental affairs holding their 36th meeting at the St Regis Hotel in Doha yesterday.

The 36th meeting of the GCC undersecretaries responsible for environmental affairs began here yesterday at The St Regis Hotel in Doha to discuss environmental issues of concern to the Gulf region.
The two-day meeting comes as part of the Gulf environment conference which Qatar, represented by the Ministry of Environment, has been hosting since October 17.
The conference will conclude tomorrow with the 19th meeting of the GCC environment ministers.
In his keynote speech, Assistant Undersecretary for Environmental affairs Ahmed Mohamed al-Sada said that stability and economic growth in the GCC countries, thanks to their leaders’ are keen on environmental protection through the joint action plan to preserve and protect natural resources in order to achieve sustainable development for the welfare of the peoples of the region.
He pointed out that the environment in the GCC countries is facing manmade challenges and natural hazards, calling on the GCC countries to unify ideas, visions, efforts, to overcome effects of these challenges on human life and society.
