A nearly 200-metre stretch on the northbound parallel road of Al Shamal will be temporarily closed after Al Kharaitiyat Interchange (N8) exit in Leabaib area close to IKEA, from Thursday onwards.
The traffic will be diverted to the newly constructed one-lane diversion located on the right side of the closed road (as shown in the attached map).
Ashghal has also announced that a temporary closure of about 300 meters will be in place on the slow-lane in the direction towards Al Shamal near Al Kharaitiyat Interchange (N8).
The three remaining lanes will stay open throughout the period of construction and traffic will be merged back into four lanes after the end of construction (as shown in the attached map).
A 250-meter section on the parallel road of Al Shamal road southbound (towards Doha) leading to Al Kharaitiyat Interchange (N8), will also be temporarily closed for the time being. The traffic will be diverted to the exit ramp leading to Al Al Ebb (East of interchange) and smaller vehicles can make a U-turn at the signal controlled intersection but larger vehicles such as trucks and trailers will make a U-turn at the roundabout further ahead (west of this signalised junction) (as shown in the attached map).
The closures are for a period of 45 days and they are required to carry out construction works of a bridge foundation in the concerned area which forms part of the North Road enhancement project.
