Cabinet okays draft decision on Qatar Quality Mark

The Cabinet yesterday approved a draft decision of HE the Minister of Environment on issuing regulations to grant the Qatar Quality Mark.
The draft regulations contain provisions concerning the conditions for granting a licence to use the Qatar Quality Mark, the duration of the licence and the obligations of the establishment licensed to use the quality mark, the official Qatar News Agency reported.
To this end, the Cabinet approved a draft decision of HE the Minister amending Resolution No 191 of 2013.
A senior official from the Ministry of Environment (MoE) had said a few months ago that the Qatar Quality Mark was in the process of being approved and an announcement would be made soon to open applications from traders and producers, according to reports in the local media.
Dr Mohamed Saif al-Kuwari, assistant undersecretary for laboratories and standardisation affairs at the MoE, had made the observation while speaking on the dangers of using expired soap, shampoo and beauty products.
He had said beauty products would soon carry the Qatar Quality Mark, while meeting GCC and international quality standards and specifications, according to the reports.
After the regular weekly Cabinet meeting chaired by HE the Prime Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani at the Emiri Diwan, HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ahmed bin Abdullah al-Mahmoud said the Cabinet also approved a draft decision of HE the Minister of Municipality and Urban Planning on the conditions and technical specifications for buildings used by persons with disabilities.
These conditions and specifications aim to provide persons with disabilities with access to buildings without the need for help from others, on the basis of the fundamental principles of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the State’s eagerness to take care of such people and solve the problems they face, according to the QNA report.  
The Cabinet also approved a draft decision of HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs on the establishment of departments in the administrative units that make up the Cabinet General Secretariat and the appointment of its terms of reference.
Further, HE al-Mahmoud said the Cabinet took the necessary measures to ratify a co-operation agreement in the field of culture and a memorandum of understanding in youth and sports affairs between the governments of Qatar and Pakistan.
The Cabinet reviewed a letter by the HE the Minister of Energy and Industry and chairman of the Standing Committee of Water Resources on the results of a study conducted by the Public Works Authority on surface water.
It also reviewed a letter by HE the Minister of Environment on the outcome of a ministerial meeting of the Global Dryland Alliance held in Morocco in May.
