Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) Awards 2015 which took place at the DAR Constitution Hall – one of the most iconic venues in Washington, DC, USA providing the perfect setting to celebrate the achievements of NOCs and their athletes. This year’s ceremony showcased the new ANOC Awards logo which reflects the festivity and glamour of the evening.
Femi Ogunode was awarded with the Best Male Athlete in the Asian Continent prize by the Association of National Olympic Committees. Ogunode thanked God and his family for the support they have been showing towards him and also thanked his coach and the Qatar athletics federation for believing in him.
He also thanked his fans for showing him so much love and also inspiring him to do more.
Femi said the award was a major achievement for him in his career and he promised to do more and go higher in the coming Athletics events.
Among the Olympians that presented awards are Ryan Lochte, 11-time Olympic medallist in swimming; Katie Ledecky, Olympic gold medallist in swimming at London 2012; Kirsty Coventry, seven-time Olympic medallist in swimming; Angela Ruggiero, IOC member and four-time Olympic medallist in ice hockey; Barbara Kendall, IOC member, ANOC Athletes’ Commission chair and three-time Olympic medallist in wind surfing; and Sergey Bubka, gold medallist in pole vault at Seoul 1988. Completing the athlete-focused line up is Ato Boldon, four-time Olympic medallist and NBC analyst, who will be the master of ceremonies for the event.
In addition to the presentation of the ANOC Awards, the audience also enjoyed performances from five groups representing the cultural diversity of the world’s five continents and their NOCs.
