DIFI in pact with agency for community development

Noor al-Malki al-Jehani with Aqeel al-Jassim at the signing ceremony.

Doha International Family Institute (DIFI), a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, recently signed a memorandum of understanding with GCC Labour and Social Affairs Ministers’ Council Executive Bureau.
This initiative is part of the broader effort to achieve the Qatar Foundation’s strategic objectives to unlock human potential, enhance community development and pioneer positive and constructive change in Qatar and the region. It is also in line with DIFI’s mission to ensure family issues constitute a top priority for policy makers and are promoted nationally, regionally and internationally.
Through this MoU, both parties aim to strengthen relations and consolidate co-operation to allow optimal use of potential and efforts. Moreover, they seek to adopt a common approach to raising urgent issues and better addressing the changing requirements of sustainable development in light of globalisation and its effects.
Noor al-Malki al-Jehani, DIFI executive director, underlined that this co-operation is part of QF vision in leading efforts to promote human, social and economic development in Qatar, and is in line with DIFI’s objectives to advance international knowledge of Arab family issues and ensure that family-related issues are a top priority for policy makers.
She added: “Since the Executive Bureau also aims at protecting the family through legislations and laws regulating the life of families and family members, protecting their rights and building their social, cultural, economic and educational capacities, this MoU will allow us to raise common issues and objectives relating to the Arab family.”
Aqeel Ahmed al-Jassim, GCC Labour and Social Affairs Ministers’ Council Executive Bureau director general, said: “Researches and studies will be conducted to develop, execute and assess policies and programmes pertaining to families, women, children and the elderly in GCC countries. In doing so, we hope to identify and examine the risks faced by Gulf families and the vulnerable categories, and to issue recommendations in that regard.”
