MathAlive! extends its stay in Doha

MathAlive! made its debut in Qatar earlier last month.

Raytheon’s interactive maths and science exhibition MathAlive! will extend its stay in Doha from November 5 to December 10 following its debut in Qatar earlier last month.
The exhibition is being organised and hosted at Qatar Scientific Club (QSC) in collaboration with Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF).
The extension comes after a successful run at Qatar University at the beginning of October, where the exhibition’s school attendance record for the Gulf region exceeded more than 3,600 students from 118 schools in eight days, according to a statement.
During its debut run in Qatar, MathAlive! introduced a “brand-new and unique” interactive football module specifically designed for Qatari youth, named “Penalty Block”, in recognition of the country’s dedication and passion for football ahead of hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
The first-of-its-kind simulator gives 8 to14-year-old students a virtual experience to explore some of the mathematical concepts behind the sport.
QF’s Dr Aisha al-Obaidly, deputy executive director of education, training and development, said: “We are very happy to host MathAlive! and pleased to develop a relationship with Raytheon to help inspire the children of Qatar, fully in line with our own efforts in supporting Qatar National Vision 2030 to lead human, social and economic development across the country.”
QSC chairman Fahad M al-Kuwari said: “It is a tremendous opportunity for Qatar Scientific Club to host the MathAlive! exhibit. This endeavour will help promote mathematics and its application to everyone, especially young students. It will also help meet the goal of the club, which is to promote interest, learning and ingenuity in the fields of science and technology.”
“We are incredibly happy to host the exhibit with such distinguished national organisations as Qatar Foundation and Qatar Scientific Club,” added Yezen Munir, Raytheon International’s president in Qatar.
