Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) president HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad al-Thani has expressed his satisfaction over the organisation of the Doha 2015 IPC Athletics World Championships which concluded on Saturday at Qatar Sports Club’s Suhaim bin Hamad Stadium.
Sheikh Joaan said in a press statement that “our wise leadership’s interest in sports in general and community awareness of the sport with disabilities in particular, had a major role in this unprecedented success in this challenge”.
HE Sheikh Joaan extended congratulations to the family of Paralympic Games around the world, after the resounding success of the 7th World Championship in Doha.
Athletes with disabilities who participated in the tournament had already succeeded in materializing the tournament slogan “Challenge the Impossible” after they had managed to break several world records in the Doha Championship said Sheikh Joaan.
He added: “We in Qatar are greeting athletes with disabilities who have distinguished themselves with relentless determination and defied the impossible, and proved that the achievements can only be realized by strong will and patience.”
Sheikh Joaan greeted Qatari players, men and women, who participated in the tournament and said they were setting great examples and wished them success in their sporting endeavours.
He also extended congratulations to the organizing committee of the tournament, and said: “There is no doubt that Doha has proved in recent years as the capital of world sport and it is no surprise that the World Athletics Championships for people with disabilities comes out with same level presented by Qatar in organizing various global and international tournaments.”
