Electromech Technical Associates (ETA), Qatar recently organised a seminar titled “Best Practices in Elevator and Escalator Maintenance Services”.
Abdul Azeez, head of operations, ETA, Qatar, welcomed the gathering. Prominent among those who attended were Eisa Abdulla Hamad al-Hitmi, local partner; Ahamed Meeran, executive director, ETA MELCO; Takeshi Suleiman Arai, deputy executive director, M Matsuhashi; and dignitaries from government bodies, officials from leading hotels, facility management firms, real estate companies and other clients.
“In this vertically growing world, we have become highly dependent on elevators and escalators. Hence, periodical maintenance plays a vital role in keeping the equipment in good health,” a spokesman for the company said.
The event focused on ensuring professional periodical maintenance undertaken by the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM). “Third party maintenance (better known as maintenance by “other than the manufacturer”) has raised numerous safety concerns all over the world which include shortened lifespan of the elevator and escalator equipment as well as passenger safety,” it was observed.
ETA MELCO is the largest company of its kind in the Middle East. It is a joint-venture with Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, Japan.
