Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) launched its new website along with a new corporate Twitter account at the World Travel Market (WTM) 2015 which opened in London on Monday.

Earlier, QTA also unveiled its ‘Qatar Destination Brand' to a global audience and highlighted the programmes to position the country as a premium tourist destination. Representatives of several countries as well as leading tour operators were present on the occasion which saw the QTA officials describing the whole plan of action.

Rashed al-Qurese, QTA’s chief marketing and promotions officer said that the destination brand reflects the nation’s persona, hopes, actions and vision.

"It takes inspiration from multiple characteristics that define Qatar today: traditions, heritage, hospitality, a love for art, a dedication to excellence, modernity, confidence, and dynamism.”

As part of the destination branding, 50 London taxis displaying the new brand were parked outside the Excel Exhibition Centre, the venue of the WTM. Hundreds of visitors were in attendance to watch the fleet of taxis emblazoned with the brand logo 'Qatar'.

Qatari ambassador to the UK, Yusouf bin Ali al-Khater, visited the Qatar pavilion and toured the booths and interacted with the delegates at the stands.

Later talking to the media, al- Khater said: “QTA’s epitome which is focused on emphasising Qatar’s identity and presenting it to the international audience through well constructed designs containing all the elements of the heritage of the country, is truly remarkable.”

He added that the importance shown to the culture and heritage of the country has proven that Qatar is still holding onto its roots.

Following on from the launch of the new brand, and in QTA’s quest for consistent communications across all platforms, QTA’s existing social accounts on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube will promote Qatar as a destination, celebrating the country’s warmth of soul and spirit of vision.

The new QTA website promotes the destination, and is accessible at the current web address:www.qatartourism.gov.qa.

QTA has a new corporate Twitter account: @QTACorporate. This new account will become QTA’s platform to provide updates on market developments, achievements, partnerships and opportunities in Qatar’s tourism industry.

Around 26 entities from the travel, tourism and hospitality sector in Qatar are taking part in the WTM that concludes on Thursday.
