Voluntary rescue team takes part in Civil Defence expo

The Bairaq Qatar Voluntary Rescue Team, formed in 2013 as a response to the call of the young Qataris to support and help the people, was one of the participants of the fifth Civil Defence Exhibition which concluded in Doha yesterday.
The team with a membership of 70 volunteers offers help and rescue services in case of any emergency, especially to those stuck in the desert or the sea.
The membership is open for citizens as well as for expatriates who are interested in offering services voluntarily for the public and there are no requirements for joining the team, said Nasser al-Kaabi, a
member of the Bairaq Qatar team.
The volunteers will be trained on rescue operations and equipment for towing other vehicles, especially for retrieving vehicles stuck in the deserts or beaches.
Even those who do not own vehicles can join the team and they will be considered for any other services according to the situation of the call received by the team, al-Kaabi explained.
Anyone can ask for the help and rescue support of the team by calling 50188807. Sometimes the National Command Centre also co-ordinates with the Bairaq team in some rescue cases, al-Kaabi added.
