The fifth Civil Defence Exhibition and Conference concluded yesterday with some major deals and contracts, including those worth QR102mn signed by the General Directorate of Civil Defence with some local firms.
A contract worth QR92mn was signed with Fahad Trading and Contracting for new rescue operational equipment, fire jackets and coats. The agreement was signed by Civil Defence Logistics Department director Lt Col Hussain Ibrahim al-Asmakh and Fahad Trading commercial manager Sidharthan.
A contract worth QR7mn was signed with Al-Hamad Trading Establishment for a special rapid intervention vehicle that weighs 24 tonnes and which is equipped with a thermographic camera and capable of breaking into buildings on fire. The signatories were Civil Defence Logistics Department assistant director Major Ahmad Abdullah al-Abdullah and Al Hamad official Mohamed Kutty.
The Civil Defence also signed a contract worth QR3mn with Al-Khleej Global Trading for preventive equipment including fire jackets and suits. The deal was signed by Lt. Col al-Asmakh and Al-Khleej general manager Engineer Rami Batrawi.
Lt Col al-Asmakh announced on the occasion that 10 new rapid intervention vehicles have been launched for the Civil Defence Operation Department officers, who are the first responders in reaching accident scenes.The General Directorate of Civil Defence also signed a co-operation agreement with Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) to enhance co-operation between the two sectors as the number of tourists is rapidly increasing and a number of hotels and other tourism facilities are being built.
The contract was signed by Lt Col al-Asmakh and QTA’s common services director Omar Abdul Rahman al-Jaber.
