Major fire put out in Industrial Area
A major fire broke out yesterday afternoon at some storehouses in Al Sailiya near the Industrial Area.
The extent of the damage was yet to be ascertained and there were no reports of any injuries or casualties.
Plumes of thick black smoke could be rising from the area and were visible from a distance.
Fire tenders and ambulances rushed to the location along with police vehicles. The fire was brought under control and all neighbouring storehouses were vacated as a precautionary measure.
Investigations are under way to find the cause of the fire.
Strong winds and high seas forecast
Strong winds and high seas are again expected in offshore areas today, the Met office has said.
The wind speed is likely to reach 25kt towards the northern offshore areas before decreasing to 5-15kt by the evening, according to the forecast.
The country will experience moderate temperatures during the day along with some clouds. The minimum and maximum temperatures are expected to be 22C and 34C, respectively, with the forecast for Doha being 27C and 33C.
Some clouds and hazy conditions are likely in offshore areas by night, the weather office has said.
