Qatar’s shooting star Mohamed al-Mubarak claimed the silver medal in the men’s 50m rifle prone junior at event ongoing Asian Shooting Championship 2015 in Kuwait.
Al-Mubarak, who scored 183.6 to win the medal said: “I am happy with the win as it was a learning experience for me. The victory has given me the confidence to compete in future international competitions.”
India’s Swapnil Kusale claimed the gold by shooting a score of 185.4, while Ce Wang of China claimed the bronze medal with a score of 160.9. India also won the team gold in the event when Swapnil Kusale, Ishan Goel and Akhil Sheoran shot a combined total of 1839.4 to beat the teams from South Korea and China.
This was the third medal for Qatar after Hamad al-Marri claimed the double trap bronze on Tuesday. Qatar team comprised of Rashid al-Atba and Masoud Ali and Hamad al-Marri also won the double trap team bronze medal.
The championships had been stripped off their status to provide quotas to shooters for Rio 2016 but Qatar shooters have not lost motivation.
