Injaz Qatar picks winners in young entrepreneurs’ contest

Injaz Qatar recently celebrated the conclusion of the Mubadara 2015 Annual Young Enterprise of the Year competition at Katara.
The Best Company of the Year award sponsored by ExxonMobil was presented to Qaho from Qatar University (QU) and Save Your Self from Al Resala Independent School for Girls, in addition to further awards presented to other participating student teams.
Injaz Qatar is a non-profit organisation and member of Junior Achievement Worldwide.
Mubadara 2015 was hosted under the patronage of HE Dr Mohamed Abdul Wahed Ali al-Hammadi, Minister of Education and Higher Education and Secretary-General of the Supreme Education Council.
To support the young entrepreneurs, HE the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education Rabia Mohamed al-Kaabi was present at the event. Injaz Qatar’s board members, educators and the students’ families were also part of the guests in attendance.
Mubadara 2015 is a competition for student enterprises established through Junior Achievement’s globally recognised “Company Programme”. Student teams were offered the opportunity to establish and run a real business over four months with the guidance of professionals from leading businesses across Qatar.
HE al-Kaabi said: “The Mubadara programme and its outstanding young entrepreneurs clearly illustrate the talent that is being nurtured through this innovative education programme to help secure our nation’s future prosperity.”
Norman Kreutter, business services manager at ExxonMobil Qatar, said: “I wish the winners the best of luck, I am sure their products and services will go a long way. Today’s entrepreneurs are the bedrock of tomorrow’s economy.”
The winner from QU was also awarded seed funding of QR35,000 from Boeing, to help support their enterprise in addition to ongoing support by QBIC (Qatar Business Incubation Centre). Both winning teams of the Best Student Company Award will now represent Qatar at the Injaz Al-Arab Young Enterprise of the Year competition in Oman. To express its support for Injaz Qatar, Ooredoo distributed presents to the winning team awarded as “Best Company of the Year - school level”.
Ooredoo has also announced its sponsorship of the Oman trip.
Sheikha Hanadi bint Nasser bin Khaled al-Thani said: “The students taking part in this year’s Young Enterprise Competition have been inspiring – we congratulate them all. The dedication, creativity, teamwork and developing business acumen seen in this year’s categories has been exceptional.”
High school teams were recognised in a series of category awards, including Most Innovative Product or Service Award sponsored by Regency Group Holding and won by
E Order from Ahmed Bin Mohamed Al-Thani Independent School for Boys; Smart Recycle from Al Shaimaa Independent School for Girls received the Best Marketing Plan Award sponsored by QFC (Qatar Financial Centre); Re-glass from Tareq Bin Ziad Independent School for Boys was awarded the Best Social Impact Award; Do Something Different from Al Kawthar Independent School for Girls received the Best Public Presentation Award; The Echo from Al Wakra Independent School for Boys received The Best Annual Report Award and Gas Detection Service from Mosab Bin Omer Independent  School for Boys was awarded the Best Booth Display Award.
Additionally, student teams competing at the university level were recognised in the following awards: Q-cycle from QU received the Most Innovative Product/Service award sponsored by Regency Group Holding and the Best Social Impact Award; while Ptactica from QU received the Best Marketing Plan award sponsored by QFC.
