Al-Hammadi holds talks with education ministers

HE  the Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr Mohamed Abdul Wahed Ali al-Hammadi yesterday held talks with Mali Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Montage Tulle at the headquarters of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural
Organisation (Unesco) in Paris.
Dr al-Hammadi, who is heading Qatar’s delegation to the ongoing 38th Unesco session, also held separate meetings with Finnish Minister of Education and Culture Sanni Grahn-Laasonen, Pakistani Minister of State for Federal Education Muhammad Baligh Ur Rehman and Swedish Minister of Education Gustav Fridolin.
Dr al-Hammadi, who is also the secretary general of the Supreme Education Council, met with Afghanistan’s Minister of Higher Education Farida Moumen and Minister of Education Dr Asadullah Hanif Balki as well as with Dr Patricia Iswanan, a member of the Commission on Higher Education Office of the president of the Philippines.
During the meetings they discussed ways to enhance joint co-operation and exchange of experiences on training and scientific research.
They also exchanged views on issues that were discussed at the Unesco conference and the contribution of members to activating the role of organisation in a way that achieves its goals and objectives in the service of humanity.
Dr al-Hammadi stressed the importance of education and its mission, highlighting Qatar’s contributions in support of education at the international level through various initiatives, including the “Educate A Child” initiative for children deprived of education because of conflict, poverty and different conditions, in addition to other initiatives for children and young people and education of refugees and displaced persons.
Qatar’s delegation to the 38th Unesco session includes representatives of the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, the Supreme Education Council (SEC), University of Qatar, Qatar Museums Authority, Qatar National Commission for Education, Culture and Science. The delegation also includes Ali Zainal, Qatar’s permanent
representative to Unesco.
