The Ooredoo Global Services team during the Global Carrier Awards.
Ooredoo Global Services (OGS) took home the award for “Best Middle Eastern Wholesale Carrier” at the Global Carrier Awards held recently in Paris, France. The awards, which celebrated some of the industry’s leading names, saw OGS triumph after a breakthrough year.
OGS is the wholesale arm of global telecommunications leader, Ooredoo, and the company has achieved a number of milestones in 2015, including announcing its commitment to the SMW5 Global Consortium Cable – one of the world’s largest planned consortium cable projects linking the Middle East with South East Asia and Western Europe – and a new agreement with BICS, to enable customers to enjoy 4G data roaming services when they travel around the world.
Speaking at the event, OGS chief executive officer Yousuf Abdulla al-Kubaisi, said: “This award marks another year of success for OGS, which saw us consolidate our position as a leader in wholesale and international services, and deploy a range of innovative new services for our customers. Our ongoing investment in a world-class network is driving a better voice, roaming, and data experience for operators and customers alike, and we aim to continue to deliver excellence into 2016 and beyond.”
Established in 2014, OGS provides a world-class network for voice, capacity, data, and roaming. Its emergence as a major provider of wholesale services has helped to position Qatar as a regional and global communications hub.
Today, OGS delivers a world-class and robust international infrastructure serving high-value wholesale and enterprise customers, along with owning one of the largest Internet peering networks in the region.
With more than 650 roaming partners worldwide, OGS is already delivering a best-in-class roaming experience for Ooredoo customers and for inbound roamers visiting Ooredoo markets. OGS is also connected with more than 100 voice operators carrying more than 5bn minutes.
