Global Entrepreneurship Week to begin on Nov 15

Qatar Development Bank (QDB) has announced the hosting of Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) from November 15 to 19, under the patronage of HE the Minister of Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
Dr Hessa Sultan al-Jaber.
A number of activities and events supporting the small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) sector development will take place in different venues across Doha during GEW. Grand Hyatt Doha, Qatar Business Incubation Centre (QBIC), and Qatar Science and Technology Park (QSTP) will host panel discussions and workshops.
A number of educational institutions such as Qatar University, Hamad Bin Khalifa University, Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar, and College of North Atlantic Qatar will also host some of the happenings on the event’s agenda.
QNB will be the platinum sponsor for the event, while Qatar Shell will be GEW’s silver sponsor.
QDB chief executive officer Abdulaziz bin Nasser al-Khalifa said: “I would like to extend my gratitude to HE Dr Hessa Sultan al-Jaber for embracing Global Entrepreneurship Week under her patronage. The services and initiatives provided by QDB to support the development of Qatar’s SME sector are in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.”
He added: “QDB is the number one choice for ambitious entrepreneurs, and we will build on the progress we have achieved in constructing a strong national economy. QDB is looking forward to the successful partnership with GEW now and in
the future.
“In its fourth year, GEW will be a platform for a number of discussions on the latest trends and hot topics that are affecting the SME sector on the local and international level. The five-day event includes participation of partner research, scientific, educational, and commercial institutions. We are proud to gather this number of stakeholders under one umbrella to contribute to the growth of the SME and
entrepreneurship sector.”
Yousef Darwish, QNB’s GM (group communications), said: “As the leading financial institution in the Middle East and North Africa, we are pleased to sponsor this important event, which supports human development and economic growth in the State of Qatar. This is especially important as the private sector is one of the areas we give special attention to due to its role in diversifying the national economy and because of the youth’s critical role in the
development process.
“Our participation in this important annual event contributes effectively to provide Qatari youth with professional, financial, and moral support they require and enables them to have more entrepreneurship, employment, and work opportunities. This great gathering is also a prime opportunity for the exchange of knowledge and
experience in this field.”
