‘Energy World’ to boost STEM interest among Qatar’s youth

‘Energy World – Qatar 2015’ features physical and digital exhibits, workshops and science shows encouraging everyone to ‘explore, make, and learn’.

In support of the Qatar National Vision 2030, long-term partners Qatar Petroleum and Qatar Shell, in association with the Qatar Tourism Authority, will host the inaugural “Energy World – Qatar 2015”, an interactive experience taking people of all ages on a journey into science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).
The event will run for 10 days at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre from November 19, with free tickets available by registering online at www.energyworldqatar.com.
“Energy World – Qatar 2015” features a mix of physical and digital exhibits, workshops and science shows encouraging everyone to “explore, make, and learn”.
It is aimed at inspiring students in Qatar to learn more and pursue STEM subjects in higher education.
The four subjects are fundamental to Qatar’s educational vision to build a prosperous future for the country.
At “Energy World – Qatar 2015”, visitors, parents, students and children would be able to enjoy a hands-on experience that will create a greater awareness of energy and its challenges, and will stimulate creative thinking and innovation among participants to find solutions to meet those challenges.
Farah al-Maadeed, media relations manager at Qatar Shell and official spokesperson of the event, said: “The vision and mission of Energy World Qatar is to foster a spirit of wonder and inquiry about the world around us, and inspire young people in Qatar to question, explore, create, and innovate through science and technology.”
“This fun-filled family science adventure will inspire young people in Qatar to explore STEM subjects to become the scientists, engineers, technologists, innovators, and leaders of tomorrow,” she added.
“Energy World – Qatar 2015” challenges visitors with fun STEM-themed activities and innovative questions along an interactive journey comprising various digital exhibits.
Upon answering the final question, visitors will step up to the screen to find out what type of innovator they are – designer, engineer, connector, inventor, or adventurer.
“Energy World – Qatar 2015” has partnered with the Supreme Education Council and has engaged teachers representing 11,000 students from 130 schools across Qatar to take part in the school programme, which facilitates exclusive access to the event.
The event is free of charge.
