Emir attends closing session of Arab-South American summit

HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani participating in the closing session of the fourth summit of Arab and South American countries in Riyadh yesterday.

HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani participated along with the leaders and heads of delegations of Arab and South American countries in the closing session of the fourth summit of Arab and South American countries yesterday.
The closing session was chaired by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz al-Saud of Saudi Arabia at King Abdulaziz International Conference Centre in Riyadh.  
The official delegation accompanying the Emir also attended the closing session.  
Earlier in the day, HH the Emir attended the summit’s second closed session.  
In the summit’s closing statement, the leaders reiterated their belief in the right of peoples to live in a stable and prosperous future with no dangers of terrorism, nuclear weapons and weapons of mass destruction.
They emphasised the need to achieve a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian cause in accordance with the resolutions of international legitimacy and the Arab Peace Initiative to establish a Palestinian state based on 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
They stressed the need to reach a peaceful solution to the Syrian crisis in accordance with Geneva I statement and Vienna Conference.
The leaders highlighted the importance of finding a solution to the Yemeni crisis through the application of relevant resolutions of the Security Council, particularly resolution 2216.
They expressed support for the ongoing political process of dialogue in Libya under the auspices of United Nations.
They rejected any interference in the internal affairs of countries in the region by foreign powers in violation of the Charter of the United Nations and the principle of good neighbourliness.
The leaders stressed the importance of respecting the unity, sovereignty and independence of the states and territorial integrity and resolving conflicts peacefully.
They called upon Iran to respond to the request of the United Arab Emirates to find a peaceful solution to the issue of the three islands (Greater and Lesser Tunbs  and Abu Musa) in line with the Charter of the United Nations and international law.
Later in the evening, the Emir left Riyadh after participating in the summit.
The Emir sent a cable to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz al-Saud of Saudi Arabia in which he expressed his thanks and appreciation for the warm welcome accorded to him and his accompanying delegation during the summit. Page 13
