Kuwaiti rider Mohammed Jaffar won the second round of Losail MX Championship after a tough battle with Britain’s Benjamin Menzies at the Losail International Circuit. Emirati rider Sultan al-Balooshi finished third.
Jaffer finished second in the first race but in the second he led from the front to complete the win.
“In the first race I crashed twice and damaged my bike with the result that I had to complete the race standing,” said Jaffer.“I am really proud of my show this weekend, because yesterday I was also racing in Dubai, finishing in good position and today I won so this is a perfect weekend. Thanks to QMMF for their hospitality and to all my supporters,” he said.
In MX1, Jaffar and Menzies are sharing the lead with 47 points with Sultan al-Balooshi third on 40 .
In the MX2 category, the first place was taken by British rider Ryan Blair who won both races.
“The track was really good and I enjoyed a lot today with some nice lines, no mistakes and no crash, so a perfect day,” said Blair. The Honduras rider Sarah Handal was very happy to be back at the Losail MX track.
“I am very glad to be back, I enjoyed a lot racing here with these guys, they are very tough. I like the track a lot although it requires a lot of physical training,” she said.
Emirati rider Ali al-Kubaisi was the winner in the veterans category while his compatriot Ahmed al-Nuaimi won the junior MX 65 title.
Nasser Khalifa al-Attiyah, QMMF President and FIM Deputy President was very happy with the competition witnessed in the second round of the Losail MX.
“We are very happy today with the second round of Losail MX Championship. There was good competition in all the categories. Thanks to all the families who are behind the juniors to support them. I want to congratulate all the riders in the different categories,” he said.
