As many as 3mn stems of chemical-free flowers are produced annually by Roza Hassad, a subsidiary of Hassad Food, in hi-tech glass houses at its Sheehaniya farm.
“A portion of these flowers are exported to a number of countries in Europe and Asia,” Saba al-Fadala, executive director, Roza Hassad, told Gulf Times.
Speaking on the sidelines of the recently concluded fourth Qatar International Agricultural Exhibition ( AgriteQ), she explained that the Roza Hassad farm is the most advanced flower garden in the GCC region.
The garden in the farm is spread across six hectares, out of which 5.5 hectares are used for growing more than 20 varieties of roses.
“Our main variety of rose is the Moza Rose, named after HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser by HH the Father Emir on the opening day of the garden. It is a very unique one with very long stem and no thorns on its stem. Three times, the flower changes its colour in its entire life span,” she highlighted.  
Al-Fadala said the garden has a number of other flowers which are in high demand. “We have Lilies, Leichtlins’ Lily, Chrysanthemum, Anthurium and many more. We also grow some vegetables. All our flowers and vegetables are chemical free. We also grow wedding plants and indoor plants.”
The official explained that the flowers are marketed through Al Meera Group of hypermarkets and supermarkets. “We also sell them to wholesalers and retailers. We export them to Germany, Austria, Jordan Lebanon and all GCC countries,” she added.
In addition to Roza Hassad, Hassad Food  has  a diverse set of high quality products, from several of its subsidiaries: Hassad Australia is chilled carcasses and live “Awassi” Syrian sheep, while Hassad Qatar is high quality fodder products. Premium dates and olive oil are produced at Mahaseel while Senwan Pakistan produces different types of  high
quality rice.
