A Criminal Court has fined a GCC citizen QR5,000 for causing serious injury to a pedestrian while driving on a Doha road.
The man has also been ordered to pay a sum of QR64,000, along with the insurance company concerned, to the victim, local Arabic daily Arrayah reported.
The defendant was driving towards the Al-Ubaidly roundabout from the Woqod roundabout when the vehicle knocked down an expatriate pedestrian who was crossing the road.
The court decided that the motorist was not alert and was driving recklessly, which was why he could not avoid hitting the pedestrian.
Besides, the injured man had submitted an official medical report, indicating that he sustained 32% disability, and requested for compensation.
