The Court of Appeal has upheld a ruling by the Court of First Instance against three expatriates who had falsely claimed to be policemen and robbed a person.
The convicts were sentenced to three months in jail and ordered to pay a fine of QR3,000 each. Besides, the court ordered their deportation upon completion of the prison term, local Arabic daily Arrayah reported.
The three men were accused of breaking into a house while being intoxicated. They told the person living there that they were policemen and tied him up. They then grabbed some of his valuables and fled.
The victim reported the matter to the police and told them the three accused robbed him of a couple of mobile phones after beating him up.

‘Digital cafeteria’ opens
The Department of Information Systems has launched a new “digital cafeteria” service for people with special needs at the Ministry of Municipality & Urban Planning.
The initiative seeks to benefit the ministry’s employees who have hearing and visual disabilities by facilitating their communication with the hospitality staff, according to a statement.
The service enables MMUP employees with hearing and speech disabilities to place precise orders at the cafeteria of their administrative unit by using the monitors of their desktop digital phones.
The “digital cafeteria” is one of the services provided by the department through the digital phone system. The department has advised all staff members with disability, who require this service, to contact the helpdesk at 444.
