Free online educational modules for healthcare practitioners

The accreditation department of the Qatar Council for Healthcare Practitioners (QCHP) has joined hands with BMJ Online Learning to provide free access to licensed healthcare practitioners. Licensed doctors and nurses will be able to freely access the BMJ learning educational modules.
QCHP, the regulator of the Continuous Medical Education (CME)/Continuous Professional Development (CPD) in the country, will launch the mandatory national CME/CPD accreditation framework in March 2016. This will help in promoting knowledge, competence, and improving performance of healthcare practitioners in their fields of practice.
QCHP in collaboration with BMJ has started educational sessions with the focal points of healthcare facilities to train them on the process of registering free accounts for their healthcare practitioners. In addition, QCHP plans a series of onsite training sessions in different healthcare facilities to further facilitate the project.
The accreditation department is planning more future collaborations with other CPD providers to provide online CPD resources to other scopes of healthcare practice.
The framework outlines the minimum CPD requirements needed per accreditation cycle and per category for the licensed healthcare practitioners as part of the license renewal requirements. The CME/CPD framework encourages healthcare practitioners to pursue variety of educational assessment activities and resources in different formats appropriate to their practice and fulfilling the category requirements of the council.
