Over the weekend, hundreds of football fans in Al Khor Housing Community, were treated to an amazing fanzone experience at the Qatargas League Fanzone in Al Khor Stadium.
Organised by Qatar Football Association and Qatargas, the Fanzone featured a wide range of fun games and activities for the whole family and was followed by an exciting match between Umm Salal and Al Shahania which kicked off at 4pm.
A special cultural dance was also performed during the half time which wowed the audience as it featured traditional elements from the rich Indonesian culture.
A five-a-side junior football tournament which brought together eight teams from Al Khor community also took place, and the winners received their medals and prizes during an awarding ceremony following the Umm Salal and Al Shahania match.
All the games and activities were run entirely by volunteers that live in Al Khor community and have signed up to contribute towards the success of the event while experiencing the action from the field.
As part of QFA’s CSR strategy which aims to involve all segments of the local community in various tournaments and competitions organized by QFA, 22 escort kids were also chosen from Al Khor community to walk the players onto the pitch.
Qatargas is involved in organising such events as part of its corporate social responsibility initiatives which are aligned with the objectives of the human and social development pillars of the Qatar National Vision 2030.
