Qatargas Engineering Forum sees exchange of ideas on LNG industry

Qatargas recently hosted the 12th Annual Engineering Forum at Al Khor, which provided engineering experts from the LNG sector a platform for exchanging ideas on the challenges facing the industry. The forum, which has become an important event in the industry’s annual calendar, was attended by engineering experts from oil and gas companies, academia, and private sector establishments. Participants shared technical expertise, discussed latest developments, and highlighted best practices in the oil and gas industry in Qatar. The event also provided networking opportunities among peers and showcased case studies on a wide range of engineering subjects. Addressing the attendees, Qatargas Engineering manager, Alae Sadic al-Hassan, said, “In our industry, continuous learning and self-improvement are key success factors. Forums such as this offer the right platform for sharing ideas and showcasing expertise, thereby updating our knowledge and keeping us abreast of the latest developments in the industry. As we strive to accomplish common objectives under the Vision 2030 of the State of Qatar, we have a huge responsibility to raise up to the expectations set on us and demonstrate that we are up to the challenge.” The presentations at the forum covered two main topics — ‘Integrity’, and ‘Process and safety’. Eight presentations were made on each topic. Presentations on ‘Integrity’ covered such subjects as project strategies, quality, obsolescence management, capital efficiency, hot tapping, cost optimisation, effectiveness and processes to improve business, while presentations under the category “process and safety” addressed topics such as regeneration cycle, investigation of fire incident, management system, gas life cycle assessment, recovery process, effectiveness reviews, advance process system and better prediction of the consequences of LNG spills. Nearly 200 engineering professionals attended the day-long event. Picture shows the participants at the 12th Annual Engineering Forum hosted by Qatargas at Al Khor.
