A Doha Criminal Court has sentenced in absentia a Kenyan maid to one year in jail for stealing her employer's jewellery, local Arabic daily Arrayah has reported.
The maid's employer, a lady, had deported her earlier as she did not find her trustworthy. But later she saw the maid's photo on her WhatsApp account, wearing the stolen jewellery.
Subsequently, the employer approached the court where she also accused the maid of stealing 10,000 euro as well before she left the country.
She submitted to the court her own photos wearing the jewellery and the photos on WhatsApp of the maid wearing the same. Thus the court established the guilt of the maid.
In addition, the court ordered the maid to be deported upon serving her sentence when she is arrested, the daily added.
