Qatar Chamber hosts Filipino trade team

A delegation comprising 38 businessmen from Philippine-Qatar Trade Initiative (PhlQat) met with their Qatari counterparts at the Qatar Chamber yesterday.
Led by PhlQat senior adviser Jose Manuel Romualdez, the delegation exchanged views on ways of strengthening trade and economic relations and establishing genuine partnerships between businessmen from both countries.
The meeting, headed by Qatar Chamber board member Khalid bin Jaber al-Kuwari, focused on exploring mutual investment opportunities for both Qatar and the Philippines.
Romualdez said the delegation represented various fields, including telecommunications, agriculture, real estate, aviation, information technology, logistic, and tourism and hospitality.
“Qatar and the Philippines are friendly countries,” al-Kuwari said, adding that about 180,000 Filipino workers, including engineers, nurses, are taking part in Qatar’s economic growth.
He stressed the keenness of Qatar in urging the private sector to participate in the projects that are being implemented to develop infrastructure for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
“Similarly, Qatari businessmen are interested in exploring investment opportunities in Philippine in various fields,” he added.
Romualdez said: “It is a good opportunity for building a positive interaction between both parties in investment and
economic aspects.”
He added that more than 200 Filipino companies are operating in Qatar and expressed hope to see more in the Qatari market.
