Pursuant to the deep-rooted historical relations between the State of Qatar and the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, the foundations of which were laid by HH the Father Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani and the late president of Venezuela Hugo Rafael Chavez Frias, and at the invitation of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani paid an official visit to Venezuela on Wednesday, November 25, 2015.
The Emir held official talks dominated by a spirit of understanding and a firm willingness to develop bilateral relations between the two countries in all fields.
The two sides also expressed their satisfaction at the regular high level visits between officials of the two countries, pushing forward the march of co-operation in areas of political, economic, investment, energy and culture to advanced stages.
The following agreements and memoranda of understanding were signed during the visit:
* An agreement on the exemption of visa requirements for holders of diplomatic and special passports.
* An agreement for co-operation in the legal field.
* A Memorandum of Understanding on sporting co-operation.
* A Memorandum of Understanding in the field of air services.
* An agreement on mutual administrative assistance to enable the proper application of customs law.
* A Memorandum of Understanding between Qatar Central Bank and the Bank of Venezuela.
* A Memorandum of Understanding between Qatar Chamber and the Venezuelan Federation of Chambers of Commerce.
* An agreement on the fraternity between Doha municipality and Libertador Bolivarian Municipality.
The two sides affirmed the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and calling on the international community to exercise pressure on Israel to stop settlements, killing of innocent people and violations committed by the Israeli occupation forces and the importance of achieving a just, comprehensive and lasting peace in accordance with the Arab peace initiative and international legitimacy resolutions.
The two sides reviewed the rapid developments in the Middle East region and the world and the importance of exerting efforts to achieve stability in the region and to renounce terrorism , violence and extremism in all its forms and manifestations, whatever its source.
HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani expressed thanks to Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro for the warm hospitality and reception and his attention to stability and security of the Middle East region and the entire world.
