A security guard took his superior hostage and later shot him dead, and then wounded three of his co-workers before killing himself on Thursday afternoon in Santa Cruz, Manila.
Fernando Cano, 40, repeatedly fired at Ricardo Medina, his supervisor, killing him instantly.
Two other co-workers were wounded but were declared out of danger at the Chinese General Hospital, including a teenager who was hit by a stray bullet.
Cano then turned the gun to his head and killed himself.
Some employees said Cano started acting strangely when told that he was a suspect in the robbery that took place in their office where P1mn was taken.
Before the hostage taking, Cano was seen arguing with his boss in the presence of some employees.
Manila Police District Director Chief Supt. Rolando Nana said some investigators visited the Chain Glass Enterprises early in the morning to get details of the robbery.“He was denying that he had something to do with the crime. As early as 10am, he was already acting differently until he aimed his gun to the people in the building,” an employee who asked not be named said.
Nana denied that employees were taunting Cano.
“We were told that he was restless in the morning. Of course, all employees are considered suspects in the robbery case,” he said.
“We even asked his wife to go up the building, but she saw him already dead,” Nana added.
