Save the Dream and Global Child Forum are pleased to announce a strategic partnership aimed at safeguarding children in sport.
Global Child Forum, a leading global platform for the promotion and advancement of children’s rights, will collaborate with Save the Dream on a series of specific initiatives which address the situation of children’s rights and sports at a global level.
The agreement, signed at the 2015 Global Child Forum at the Royal Palace in Stockholm, will act as a starting point for co-operation between the two organisations and lead to better understanding and mapping of the sport-related risks children face in different countries and regions. This partnership follows on from Save the Dream’s on-going collaboration with Unicef which aims to protect children from misconduct which may occur in sport as well as the threats to children which are associated with the organisation of major sporting events.
“The Save the Dream initiative is globally active in child protection and we applaud the Global Child Forum for the work they do around children’s rights. GCF’s inspired leadership and vision to promote a sustainable world where children’s rights are respected and supported by all stakeholders in society is one that aligns closely with our own ambitions of a safe and secure future for children participating in sport.
“The International Centre for Sport Security (ICSS), Save the Dream and the GCF share a commitment to support the fulfilment of the Convention on the Rights of the Child and to act in the best interest of children.
“By setting up this framework for cooperation, we hope to be able to facilitate a fruitful collaboration, which will see us play a more active role in driving best practice in child protection in sport globally” said Mohammed Hanzab, founder of Save the Dream and President of the ICSS.
“The purpose of the Global Child Forum is to promote and facilitate cross-sector partnerships to further the rights of the child,” said Ulf Karlberg, Chairman of Global Child Forum.
“We are therefore proud and honoured to join hands with ICSS and their programme Save the Dream on a series of concrete initiatives to address the situation of children’s safety in sports.”
Also present at the Global Child Forum 2015 at the Royal Palace in Stockholm were The Royal family of Sweden, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra’ad al-Hussein, Peter Brabeck-Letmathe, chairman of Nestlé Group, Irina Bokova, Director-General for Unesco, Yoka Brandt, Deputy Executive Director for Unicef, Winnie Byanyima, Executive Director for Oxfam International and Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Löfven and some 400 international delegates and speakers.
