Ooredoo group wins 5 Stevie swards

Several of Ooredoo’s leading initiatives and campaigns to champion women across its global footprint have been recognised by the world’s top honours for women professionals, the annual Stevie® Awards for Women in Business

Several of Ooredoo’s leading initiatives and campaigns to champion women across its global footprint have been recognised by the world’s top honours for women professionals, the annual Stevie® Awards for Women in Business.
Ooredoo received a Gold Stevie® Award in the category of ‘Smartphone or Tablet App of the Year’ for MayMay / PhayPhay, an app that bridges the mobile and health sectors to help ensure that a wealth of useful maternal, child health and wellness information is readily available to women across the country, both during and after pregnancy.
The group also received a Silver Award in the category of ‘Community Involvement Programme of the Year’ for INSPERA, which uses mobile technology to enable women entrepreneurs to overcome challenges, providing essential business tips and market information via the mobile.  INSPERA supports Indonesia’s rural ‘womenpreneurs’ in traditional industries such as Batik painting.  A major aim of the initiative is to break down barriers preventing these women from accessing funding, teach them to use the Internet and other digital solutions which can vastly expand their outreach, knowledge and opportunities.
Sheikh Saud bin Nasser al-Thani, Group CEO, Ooredoo, said: “We are incredibly proud of our achievements in this particular area of the business. We are constantly thinking of ways in which we can create and lead initiatives that help women overcome the barriers which prevent them from pursuing their own economic and social development. These awards recognise issues that are paramount not just to us but for society. Ooredoo believes that communities created for women either online or in real life can be important catalysts for greater empowerment.”
Ooredoo’s Wataniya Mothers Day Campaign was awarded a Bronze Stevie in the ‘Consumer Advertising or Marketing Campaign of the Year’ category, which in addition to successfully generating top-of-mind brand awareness without engaging with customers in a commercial manner also inspired Palestine citizens (not just Ooredoo customers) to treasure and appreciate their loved ones while highlighting how with Ooredoo’s support they could share their joy and appreciation during memorable occasions.
For its contribution to enable entrepreneurial opportunities for women in the South and Southeast Asia region, a second Bronze Award for ‘Startup of the Year - Consumer Services Industries’ went also to Wobe, ‘Women Benefit’, a graduate of Ooredoo’s internationally acclaimed and award winning start-up accelerator programme Ideabox. In addition, Adrianna Tan, Founder and CEO of Wobe, was recognised with a Silver Stevie in the category of ‘Women Helping Women’.
